Audition FAQs

  • There are three rounds: an audition and two callbacks.

    In the open audition round, just show up to any of our walk-in time slots (details above). We’ll walk you through some simple vocal exercise and give you the opportunity to show off your skills!

    The next two rounds are invite only callbacks. Look out for an email from the president for next steps. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email us at thekeyelements.cu@gmail.com or the A Cappella Advisory Council (ACAC) at president@cornellacac.com .

  • For voice auditions, come in with a verse and chorus (or 60 seconds) of a song that showcases your talent. We’ll walk you through the rest!

    For vocal percussion (VP) auditions, come in with a 30 second beat that showcases all of the sounds that you are able to make (kick, hi hat, snare, toms, cymbals, etc).

    If you can sing and perc, prepare both!

  • We pride ourselves on both our incredible sound and our electric energy, so we want members who have an equal passion for music and for fun!

    We’re a co-ed SATB + VP group, so we’re looking for every voice part as well as vocal percussionists! Don’t worry if you don’t know your voice part. We’ll place you where you belong :)
